Introduction to brains, behaviour and business

Learn how different theories in psychology can inform your design process. From social, cognitive and behavioural. We show you have the brain is irrational and what this means for business.

The triangle of behaviour

Learn the most important theories of behaviour. Including Dr Fogg's B=MAT and the Self-Determination Theory. Breaking down behaviour into three components - motivation, ability to act and different types of triggers.

How the brains work

Decisions drive our behaviour. Learn how the brain makes decisions, how it processes information and how to design for maximum attention.

Creating behavioural design briefs

We’ll translate a problem into a behavioural problem. Taking the research and creating a quantifiable brief that focuses on people’s behaviour. 

Research techniques for behaviour

Learn how to add behavioural research to your existing user research techniques. We recap the best user testing techniques and introduce new processes to research behaviour.

Behavioural research: the who

We'll create behavioural archetypes. Assessing and building behavioural profiles of who the person is in the design problem.

Behavioural research: the where

Behaviour is set in a context. We'll look at ways to assess the environment of a person's behaviour. Looking at the what, where, when and why.

Pinpointing where to design

In all behaviour, there is a moment that if changed will change the rest of the person's behaviour. We share how to pinpoint these behavioural pivots.

Design for the behaviour triangle

You'll learn how to design effective triggers, for people's ability and different motivation types.

Improve people's behaviour

We'll introduce you to persuasive design and habit design. Looking at ways to make wanted behaviours easier and quicker.

Stop unwanted behaviours

We can stop people's unwanted behaviours using preventative design and intervention design. We will teach you these types and give you tips.

Make ideas actionable

We show you have to evaluate and find the best ideas from your brainstorming. Taking forward only the ideas that we know will work. 

How to create a prototype

We show you the different types of prototypes and how to make them. Preferencing methods and tools that suit your design idea.

How to test your prototype

We’ll show you how to get initial feedback on your prototype. With the aim to validate or improve on your initial idea.

Improve your prototype

We break down the feedback for your initial idea and use it to improve your prototype. 

1-to-1 session

We schedule a follow-up 1-to-1 session with you. In this half-hour session, we can help you unpick a problem you might be working on, answer any lingering questions or give you more information in an area you are really interested in.

Have a challenge you want to work and learn whilst solving?

We work alongside teams in our co-creation sessions. Taking a challenge you already have and work alongside you to create solutions and teach you how to design behaviour. See our co-creation sessions.
